Tropical Storm Fred formed Tuesday evening southeast of the Dominican Republic. The storm has maximum winds of 40 mph and is currently moving to the northwest around 16 mph.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Dominican Republic from the south coast from Punta Palenque
eastward and on the north coast from the Dominican Republic/Haiti border eastward.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in place for Haiti from the northern border with the Dominican Republic to
Gonaives, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the southeastern Bahamas.

8-11-21 TS Fred Forecast Track

Fred is expected to produce heavy rainfall, in excess of 4″ in some spots, gusty winds, and dangerous swells that could produce life-threatening surf and rip currents.

Interests in Florida should closely monitor Fred’s progress. Tropical Storm conditions could begin as early as Friday in the Florida Keys.
