Elsa Forms in Atlantic
Tropical Storm Elsa has formed in the Atlantic becoming the fifth named storm of the season.
Tropical Storm conditions are expected as early as tomorrow for parts of the Windward and Southern Leeward islands, including Barbados. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A Tropical Storm Watch is in place for Guadeloupe and Grenada.
Elsa is expected to bring 3-6″ of rainfall to areas within the Tropical Storm Warning. Isolated spots could pick up nearly 8″ of rain. Flash flooding and mudslides are possible.
Southern portions of the Dominican Republic and Haiti could see impacts from Elsa on Saturday, while Jamaica could begin to be impacted on Sunday.
Interests in Cuba and Florida need to monitor Elsa’s progress closely. Impacts in these areas are possible early next week.
