Delta Strengthening over Gulf of Mexico
Hurricane Hunters reported Thursday morning that Hurricane Delta is strengthening over the central Gulf of Mexico.
Delta has maximum winds of 105 mph and a minimum pressure of 968 mb. The storm is moving northwest at 14 mph.
Hurricane conditions and life-threatening storm surge will begin along the Gulf Coast Friday.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect from High Island, TX to Morgan City, LA. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect from High Island, TX to Ocean Springs, MS including Calcasieu Lake, Vermilion Bay, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Lake Borgne.
Delta could once again become a major Category 3 hurricane tonight. Some weakening is then forecast before Delta moves onshore sometime Friday.
