Major Thanksgiving Travel Disruptions

A major winter storm is set to disrupt travel on Wednesday across the central U.S. Very heavy snow and strong winds will impact both air and land travel.

Feet of snow have already fallen in Colorado. This same system is set to drop up to a foot of snow from Nebraska to the U.P. of Michigan through tomorrow night.

Hundreds of flights have already been cancelled ahead of the busiest travel day of the year. Several airlines at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are issuing travel vouchers. MSP officials urge anyone flying out of the airport Tuesday night and Wednesday to check their flight status.

The Twin Cities will see 8-12″ of snow by Wednesday midday. Prepare for dangerous travel conditions Tuesday night, with snow falling very heavy at times. Winds could gust over 40 mph.

Remember to stay off the roads during major winter storms if possible! If you’ll be traveling to see family in these areas on Wednesday, take it slow and have an emergency kit in your car.

Happy Thanksgiving!
