Moderate Risk Kansas and Missouri
There is a Moderate Risk today for parts of central and northeast Kansas and far northwestern Missouri. This marks the second day in a row in which the Storm Prediction Center has issued a Moderate risk for areas in the Central Plains.
At this time, the initial threat will be very large hail as storms develop this afternoon. The main concern will then shift to widespread damaging winds as storms merge into bowing segments. The tornado threat in the Moderate area is less certain, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Farther south, in parts of south central Kansas and central Oklahoma, the environment will be more favorable for tornadic supercell development. Places like Enid, OK and Derby, KS need to keep a close eye on the weather later today.
