Central U.S. Severe Threat
Much of the central U.S. is under the threat for severe weather today. An Enhanced risk stretches from Iowa to Texas and includes Omaha and Lincoln, NE, Des Moines, IA, Topeka, KS, and Abilene, TX. A Slight risk surrounds this area and stretches even farther north into parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Any storms that develop today have the potential to produce torrential rainfall, large hail, damaging wind gusts, and even a few tornadoes. The tornado risk stretches from Texas to Wisconsin with the greatest potential for isolated tornadoes over parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Places like Altus, Woodward, and Elk City in Oklahoma and Pampa in Texas need to pay particular attention to severe warnings this afternoon and evening! Have a way to receive weather alerts no matter where you are or the time of day.
