Moderate Risk of Severe Weather Today
There is a Moderate Risk of severe weather this afternoon and evening in parts of far north Texas and southern Oklahoma. This includes Wichita Falls and Vernon in Texas as well as Lawton and Altus in Oklahoma.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop later today in an environment conducive for supercells. Very large hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes are all possible.
In an area stretching from central Oklahoma into central Texas, there is an Enhanced Risk of severe weather in place. This includes Oklahoma City and Norman in Oklahoma and Abilene and San Angelo in Texas.
There is rich Gulf moisture in place across the Southern Plains so there could also be localized flash flooding. Stay weather aware today!
