A severe weather outbreak is increasing in likelihood today across parts of Tennessee and north Alabama. Thunderstorms are expected to begin developing midday into late afternoon. All threats are possible with any activity, including the potential for a few strong tornadoes.

As of 10 AM CT, parts of central Tennessee, far northeast Mississippi, north Alabama, and northwest Georgia were under an Enhanced risk. The Storm Prediction Center is expected to increase the risk for parts of Alabama to Moderate because of the 15% significant tornado risk.

This has the potential to be a dangerous afternoon and evening across the aforementioned locations. Many school districts in the Southeast have already decided to dismiss school early and cancel after school activities because of the severe weather threat.
