Hurricane Nicole Headed Towards Bermuda

10-12 Hurricane Nicole 3 Day Track Forecast

Category 2 Hurricane Nicole will continue to track towards Bermuda today. As of the 11 AM update from the NHC, Nicole is moving north at around 7 mph, but a more easterly shift is expected in the coming hours. This will put Nicole on a path with the island.

Nicole has maximum sustained winds of 100 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible with this storm over the course of today and into tomorrow. This means that as Nicole nears Bermuda, it could potentially be close to major hurricane strength.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Bermuda and hurricane preparations need to be completed as soon as possible. Tropical storm conditions are possible for the island as soon as tonight, with winds increasing to hurricane strength by tomorrow morning. Storm surge will be a major threat to property and life as water levels are expected to rise by as much as 6-8 feet above normal tide. Pairing that with 4-8 inches of  forecast rainfall and dangerous flooding is likely. As Nicole approaches Bermuda, a few tornadoes will be possible, especially tonight through tomorrow morning.
