NEW! Severe Weather Photo and Video Contest

SevereStudios.com is proud to announce the First Annual Severe Weather Photo and Video Contest. SevereStudios created this contest to recognize and reward severe weather enthusiasts for their hard work in capturing photos and videos of severe weather events during the 2008 chase season.


Judging:
Photos and videos will be judged by a panel of SevereStudios employees. The “Member Gallery Rating” of the photo and or video will be taken into consideration by the judges, so encourage your friends and family to view your photos and or videos at the SevereStudios Member Gallery and rate your submission. Judging will take place during the first week of September, 2008. Winners will be announced on or before September 15th, 2008.

Categories:
Best Severe Weather Photo (Including Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, Hurricanes, Hail, Lightning, Blizzards, etc.)
Best Severe Weather Video (Including Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, Hurricanes, Hail, Lightning, Blizzards, etc.)

Prizes/Awards:
1st Place: $50.00 Gasoline Gift Card
2nd Place: $25.00 Gasoline Gift Card
3rd Place: $10.00 Gasoline Gift Card

Other prizes including SevereStudios merchandise may be randomly given away to participants in the contest and is at the discretion of the judges.

All winners will be featured on SevereStudios.com and recognized for his or her achievement. Also, all winners will be featured and recognized at the SevereStudios Display Booth during the 2009 National Storm Chasing Convention (ChaserCon). (Winner has right to refuse this publicity.)

How To Enter:
Contestant may submit a maximum of three (3) items per category. Entrants can win one prize per category for a maximum of two prizes.The contest begins at 8 AM CDT on August 8th, 2008. Entries must be uploaded by 5 p.m. on August 31st, 2008.

All photos and videos must be uploaded to the SevereStudios Member Gallery for judging.

Entrants will then email info@severestudios.com with the following information to officially register his or her work in the contest:
** A description of the photo or video, including the date and location the work was photographed/filmed
** Real name
** SevereStudios member username
** Email address
** City, State, ZIP

All entries into the contest should be listed in one email; multiple submissions (emails) will not be accepted. A confirmation email will be sent to each contestant to verify their entry in the contest.

Note: Videos will need to be uploaded in .wmv format (Windows Media) in order to be viewed properly in the Member Gallery.

Rules:Photographs and videos must have been taken no earlier than Jan. 1st, 2008.
Manipulation of images, either film or digital, should be limited to conventional techniques or basic sharpening and cropping. Images should contain only the subject matter as originally seen through the “viewfinder”. Double exposures, digitally stitched photos and images containing any manipulated or added content will not be accepted and should not be entered. Videos can be time lapsed up to 2x speed, but this must be indicated with a title over the time lapsed video. Using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, or any other photo or video editing program is allowed, but judges will look for anything that looks to be digitally altered beyond “conventional techniques”.
An entrant must hold all rights to a photographs and videos. Photos or videos that violate or infringe upon another person’s copyright, are not eligible.

By entering this contest, you agree to these entry rules, and the following legal conditions.

By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party's rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party's property appears in the photograph and or video. SevereStudios Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it finds in its sole discretion that any of the foregoing warranties are not true. Decisions of SevereStudios Inc. shall be final and binding.

By entering, participants release and hold harmless the SevereStudios Inc., its respective subsidiaries, affiliates (collectively, the "Companies"), directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind rising from or in connection with the SevereStudios Inc., or any prize won, any use of the entry materials by SevereStudios Inc., the warranties participants make, any misuse or malfunction of any prize awarded, participation in any SevereStudios Inc. related activity, or participation at SevereStudios.com website.

The SevereStudios Inc. “Annual Severe Weather Photo & Video Contest” contest is open to legal residents of the fifty United States (including Washington, D.C.) or Canada, excluding Quebec, who are eighteen(18) years of age or older and have Internet access, a SevereStudios.com membership, and a valid email address as of July 1, 2008. Employees of SevereStudios Inc. and the immediate family members and those living in the same household of any of the foregoing are ineligible. SevereStudios Associate Chasers, Supporting Members, and Standard Members are eligible for this contest. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited.
