Western Fires Continue

Wildfire

Fires along the West Coast continue to burn this week. Cal Fire reports 8 active incidents.

The largest of these fires is the August Complex. This fire was sparked on August 16 by a lightning strike. It has burned over 850,000 acres. The fire is only 38% contained as of Wednesday.

Oregon continues to contain most of its fire activity thanks, in part, to better weather. Fire weather conditions will be possible by this weekend though for parts of southern Oregon.

Hundreds of homes and businesses have been destroyed in Oregon over the past several weeks due to ongoing fires. Fires in the western U.S. have been blamed on over 30 deaths, including a firefighter.

Conditions look to remain mostly favorable for fighting these fires over the next couple of days.
