Blizzard Conditions from Kansas to North Dakota

Blizzard warnings are in effect today from parts of western Kansas into eastern North Dakota and far western Minnesota as a major storm system brings heavy snow and strong winds.

Some spots in the Dakotas and western Minnesota have already received around 6″ of snow. An additional 8-12″ of snow are possible today, potentially bringing storm totals for some cities close to 18″!

Later today, winds will becoming northerly and significantly increase. Areas under Blizzard Warnings could get gusts over 50 mph! Pairing these strong winds with the falling and/or new snow and you’ve got a recipe for near zero visibility.

Anyone in a Winter Storm Warning or Blizzard Warning today should stay off the roads if possible. Some highways in North Dakota will likely be closed this evening and tonight as conditions deteriorate.
