Severe Storms in the Southern Plains

Updated Day 1 Outlook

Severe weather is possible today in parts of the Southern Plains. There is an Enhanced Risk in parts of north Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and western Arkansas. This includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, and Garland in Texas. Surrounding areas of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and into western Tennessee and northern Mississippi are in a Slight Risk.

Storms that develop in these areas will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, very large hail, and even tornadoes. The greatest probability of a tornado or two stretches from north Texas through southeastern Oklahoma and into western Arkansas. The Texas cities mentioned above as well as Little Rock, Fort Smith, and Pine Bluff in Arkansas especially need to stay weather aware today.
